I'm gonna buy the physical CD once it's out, and hopefully the Bonus CD if it's available. I'm broke right now, so I can't afford the discbox, but I might order it later if I can find enough money. But if I'm given the chance to have a download of the album for free, ofcourse I'll take it. I don't feel guilty or anything because I know I'm going to buy the CD once it's released.

Great idea. This has generated a huge hype around the release and got the product out to fans in the quickest way possible. Not that Radiohead needed to create a hype but it will promote their music to the masses who still misguidedly see their direction since ok computer as something like suicide music.

I justify my £0 purchase with the knowledge that i will be buying a ticket to see them when they innevitably tour next year - and probably for £30. Like with Prince's album give away earlier this year, Radiohead's album release is a loss leader for the band as they will make more from me from the tour.

Not many bands could get away with this album release model. Radiohead can for a few reasons: a) they're Radiohead and have a huge fan base who will sell out their world tour, and maybe even buy the £40 set; b) they are the first band to do this and the hype of these types of releases will wear off quickly - but for now the press will attract new fans to get back into radiohead/hear them for the first time for free and guilt free.

It's also another blow and slap in the face for the music labels who have been far too short sighted with digital music - in terms of delivery method, format and price point. in answer to their claim that free music devalues music across the board - just wait to see how much radiohead charge for their gigs, how many people buy tickets and in how many countries.

Can't wait to hear it.

I chose to pay nothing. I reserve the right to hear the album before paying out 40 quid for the discbox. £40 buys four other albums, give or take, and let's face it, Hail To The Thief was their weakest album to date so who knows, the new one could be iffy as well...

I do like the idea. But I was going to download it for free anyway, so I might as well be honest about it.

If I was working and getting paid regularly, I would have paid for it. Maybe £5-7. But I'm not.

And I've no doubt I'll be paying to see them when (if) they tour it.

I chose to pay nothing because I'll buy it next year when it comes out on CD. The pricing options available now are basically two extremes, I want a physical product but I don't want to pay £40. What I'm after is a happy medium, and I think that's best represented by downloading it for nothing and buying it on CD next year.

I haven't paid anything yet. I plan on downloading it again with a donation depending on whether it's any good or not.

I reckon it's a pretty great idea though and who knows maybe some people who would've downloaded it for free may chuck 'em a few quid out of respect.

I chose nothing because I couldn't be bothered to get my wallet, but I kind of regret not paying now. I will probably get it again for £5, or wait for them to release a CD version and buy that.
