Wouldn't normally buy this but the idea is novel and has gained them £1.50 that they wouldn't have had from me if it wasn't for this.

i was happy to pay £2.00 for this music, but when i got to the final screen i discovered a 45pence charge. So i went back and changed it to £1.50

I paid what i thought was a fair price to cover admin, considering just how prevalent this album will be on p2p/blogs by 10am tomorrow.

I could have gone with the statement about the value of music, but where's the fun in that for a Radiohead fan? We already know how much the music means to us, and i'm hopeful that the album is enough of a treasure to want to invest in the physical.

i paid 1.50 plus the admin fee...will buy it on vinyl if it comes out but not paying 80 dollars for the box, too pricey.

Brilliant idea. I didn't want to pay too much as I've bairly listened to the last few of their albums which I bought, but I wanted to pay enough that this might succeed. Get rid of the middlemen.

I thought 1p would be a bit cheeky, but they have a lot more money than I do and £1.50 seems fair enough to me. I remember in the bad old days having to pay HMV Trocadero £16.99 for The Bends so hopefully they can understand my thriftyness.

Gave em a couple of quid. I download all by music 'illegally' and this is the first album I've bought in about five years. I'd do the same if others followed suit.

THis is the first time since Be Here Now that an album release has become an EVENT. Like Harry Potter or Halo. For that, you've got to give Radiohead respect.

Saying that, this model will not work for 99.99% of anyone else.

I'll be interested to watch how well the Charlatans fare giving their new one away.

I've spent a lot of money on radiohead albums, EPs, singles, gigs and merchandising over the years and now its my turn to take something back off them. But I have no idea how I decided on £2 - why not 1p? The fact that I probably could have dowloaded it for free very soon after makes my decision to pay even stranger. That way I really be 'taking something back off them'. Obviously I've fallen into whatever psychological trap they've set, persuading downloaders to pay something and so 'engage' with the album. Very clever.

More than the band would get if I bought their cd, plus a little bit extra to encourage the idea. I'd much rather the band get my money than the record companies. I didn't pay more since it doesn't include the actual cd/case/artwork.

I chose this price as it is approximately what I would have paid on emusic (about 20p per track). I'd pay £7-£9 for a normal new release CD, but downloads are an inferior product.

I now wish I'd paid more. A fiver would have been closer to the mark. This is a brave move by the boys and they deserve every penny.

This move will no doubt be financially beneficial for Radiohead. Many fans will want the box set regardless of having a free download of the music itself. Meanwhile, those who would be curious but would ordinarily not want to buy the music for a typical album price now have the opportunity to get it much cheaper. Whilst there will also be those that would feel Radiohead deserve a fair price for their music and will pay what they would expect to do so ordinarily. Whilst I wouldn't call this a copycat tactic - as I imagine the band have different reasons for employing this approach than say new upcommers - it certainly isn't a new phenomenon. I wish the band all the best in their enterprise.

I added the pennies column in my two accounts and payed that amount (plus the card charge).
