£5.00United Kingdom

I think this is a fair price for a album that has no physical form and minimal distribution costs - there will alway be wankers that pay nothing but I hope the average price that emerges will be used as a benchmark to online pricing in the future, this will be a more realistic way of combatting illegal file sharing

I'd pay the going rate for it...as long as it is not full of tracks like Pulk/Pull revolving doors.

I've always loved Radiohead's artwork - but i'm not sure i'd want to spend 40 quid on a discbox so it can sit around getting dusty!

ten bucks canadian. that is how much i think all album downloads should be. also, i'd like to say that even if three quarters of the people elect to pay nothing, Radiohead is going to make a fortune from this. Not to mention the great publicity. Genius!

I think its a fantastic idea, the notion of an honesty box for a potentially free download. I think a fiver is a fair price for this experiment. I wish Radiohead every luck with it. Interesting what chart placing it will get - is it qualifies (?), and also what chart placing the cd will get when it gets released next year.

I figure that's the true price of an album's worth of music. Even better if all of it goes to the band.

Based on the last 3 (I have to say below par) albums... I think £5 is fair. If I was basing it on 'The Bends' and 'OK Computer' I would have paid £20 because they are the two best albums ever recorded!

What a brilliant Idea, I would pay a fiver for ANY radiohead album thats what I think the best albums should cost.

I paid £5. This is because a download would normally cost about £8. The artist, at the very maximum would receive £2 (probably a lot less). By paying £5 directly to the artist, I have saved £3 and the artist has gained £3 which to my mind seems fair and equitable. Here,

I think it's a very smart move - Radiohead have taken a huge moral high ground but have also given their fans the opportunity to do the same.

I spent ages trying to decide the appropriate amount. I have no doubts it will work very well for them. They'll make a lot of money and there are no distributors/middlemen involved.

It's much easier for them as they have nothing to lose and a huge international fan-base.

How does this approach help the brand-new act with no fan-base and no money to record their first tracks?

first time i've paid for an album in years. i'm paying in part because i love this kind of original thinking - although i don't see it as a solution to the music industry's woes. i don't have much problem dealing with the ethical side of downloading music for free from a band who is already rich, but if they're going to continue to let us set the price i would probably pay a couple of quid in the future.

Excellent desition by these guys, it was about time somebody started listening to what real music fans have to say, or in this case, want to pay for it. The jurassic and monopolic cd pricing is abusive and no one wants to pay the amount they ask for, especially considering the artists gets an average of 8% of the sales. Then ask yourself why people download music. It is simply a robbery and no one is willing to put up with this anymore.

Paid 5 quid because that's an average of what I pay for original cds and this time, I know my money is really well spent.

Can't wait to listen to it!

I think £5.00 is a fair price for a digital download of the album. However, I'm considering to buy the discbox as well, to get the extra-cd, the vinyls and the artworks.
