I have chosen $0.00 as the price point for the download for two reasons. The first and most important is that I don't have a debit card for my account since I just opened it, but I still want to grab the download when it comes out. The second is that, not having a job and being a college kid, I really hope to get the discbox when it comes out on American shores or just the album, whichever gets a domestic release. A kids' got to save up for a PS3 and Rock Band too, right?

I'm not even sure I like Radiohead, I found OK Computer really hard going. So I'm taking a (free) punt and seeing what it's like, either I'll become a new fan or continue on my way.

I'm definitely going to buy the physical album when it's released, and I didn't want to pay for it twice.

i decided to download for free since i don't have a credit card, but i will definitely buy the physical version of In Rainbows, but heck if IR sounds really mind blowing, i might be crazy enough to buy the 40 pound discbox= Sing dollar $120, hell lot of money for vinyl+record

I wanted the boxset but £40?! They've had so much of my money over the years this is just the final kick in the teeth. I wouldn't mind if 50% went to charity!!!

I did not pay for the digital download since I'll be getting the Discbox. That is my rationalization. :(

I paid zero - simply cos I want to hear the album to see if I like it. If I don't, I delete, and if I do I delete then go and buy the CD.

I will first listen to it and then decide how much i will spend for it.

And I think its a brilliant idea to sell music that way, because by that i can support the bands I like and pay what I think the album is wearth to me.

Kinda feel bad - would have paid more - didn't think you'd actually give it away, however awesome idea, I wouldn't normally buy a radiohead album.

I paid nothing for the download with the idea that if I like it I'll buy the discbox, and I'll probably buy the physical cd even if I'm not crazy about it.

If you see a tenner on the floor, you pick it up and put it in your pocket. You don't hand it in to the police in the vein hope that it's owner will reclaim it.

It's a brave move by Radiohead to give away their latest offering but i believe people will still pay something. I didn't pay simply because i didn't have to. Had the album been "normal" price, i would have paid it. If the album is outstanding then i may consider buying the boxset or the CD when released.

Radiohead are pro-active campaigners of all manner of environmental charities. Maybe they should have thought about what they were trying to achieve a bit more before pushing ahead with this publicity stunt... lets say 100,000 people download the album. If 50% of people paid for the album (even at just £1) Radiohead would almost certainly have recouped their losses to produce the album (If they don't, the boxset will see to that at £40!) and paid themselves for their time although, in fairness, this is something they don't seem to bothered about. Well done Radiohead!

Lets face it, there's only studio time, the website to maintain to pay for. There isn't a record company taking an inflated percentage of the cost here, packaging involved etc etc.

If the remaining 50% of people simply took the album for free, that's a huge loss of revenue that could potentially have been directed to charity. No one would have been put off by a minimum donation of £0.99p, especially when you look at iTunes charging £0.79p per track!! That money (£99,000 if we assume 100,000 download. The internet is accessible worldwide though. I imagine the downloads will be in the millions simply because it's free!) could have been directed to charites. It's a shame that such an intelligent band appear to have missed such an obvious trick.
