I think this is an excellent chance to show my favorite band my support. If I had ordered the download only I would have been a bit upset at the quality and I think they should have disclosed that before picking a price to pay. I think the best strategy would have been to pay 0.00 until after I heard the quality and then go back and pay for it later, probably about 3-5 Sterling.

I love what they're doing, and would still pay $10-$15 for the download. But since I'm a Radiohead fan, a collector of vinyl, and a collector of music in general, I bought the discbox....and I can't wait....

I'm glad all the money is going straight to Radiohead. I would buy more albums if I knew the profits were sent directly to the bands and not record companies.

Love the music, but love the concept even more. How could you not support artist freedom like this by at least paying a couple of dollars?

I'm more than happy to pay discbox price. I don't have TV or lots of clothes. This is dear to me and it may be another few years out before we get another LP. In terms of performances, this is absolutely their best recording. In terms of its ability to move me, I can say that when I listened to it at 7am this morning, I practically held my breath through the first 8 tracks. A lot of people are out there blogging hate. Why bother? I'm glad I can still enjoy art as much as I enjoyed my experience this morning with In Rainbows.

I ordered the discbox, which includes the mp3 download. Had that option not been available, I'd have probably paid only $5.00 for the mp3's, as lossy media has no value to me.

What can I say, I'm a fanboy and I appreciate a good opportunity to directly support an artist when I can. I mean, I'm sure they're all pretty well off, but it's fun to be part of such a controversial endeavor.

While I know it's not what Brittans pay for CDs, it's slightly above what I normally pay for CDs here in the states (came out to be just over $15 US Dollars with the exchange rate).

I think this is very cool what Radiohead has done and hope that other bands will do the same. Send the message to RIAA that they need to stop suing their customers. Bands like Radiohead are managing their own distribution and do not need the multi-layed B.S. that RIAA tacks on.

Bravo Thom and Jonny ... et. al.

Well, MP3 is worth whatever you'll pay for it, since music sounds horrible compressed, so yes, I'll eventually buy the CD.

But I'm puzzled as why a "progressive" band wouldn't release in SACD or DVD-A, but would issue an incredibly expensive diskbox containing (among other things) two 12 inch circular pieces of useless (to 99.9% of listeners) black plastic.

8 pounds (what with the exchange rate) is roughly what I'd expect to pay for this CD in the states.

The idea of just supporting the band and not some "neo-con's" wallet makes me feel, I don't know, just so much more comfortable... mmm...

Paid roughly what I would be paying for a CD in the US and will definitely order the box set after the holidays. Saw the band live in Berkeley in May 2006 when they were fine tuning some of these tracks and have been anxiously awaiting their release. Seriously appreciate the willingness (and ability) of the band to seek out new business models for distribution of their music. I am not of the mindset that either intellectual or artistic content should be free. Additionally, I have had to change careers when I could no longer make a (modest) living publishing books. The used/resale market, combined with the publishers' inability to adapt its business model, shattered the careers of many. Been following the debate in music distribution very closely - Rock on Radiohead!

The idea that it goes pretty much straight to Radiohead makes it seem like money well spent, rather than another distortion a la The Kinks The Money-Go-Round.

The way they're releasing this album is brilliant. I bought the album out of support of this new model alone. I like Radiohead, but I'm not a huge fan- it's for breaking new ground that I support them and pay for the new album

Paid a little bit extra for the download, which I'm giving to a friend as I'm still buying the discbox. This sort of business model should be vigorously encouraged by the fans of those fearless enough to adopt it.
